Hello,

I am Mark Darr, Principal at VIT Jr./Sr. High School.  I will be entering my 7th year as Principal as we approach the 2024-25 school year. I am excited about all of the wonderful educational offerings we are able to provide for our kids here at VIT Jr./Sr. High School. We have a dynamic and talented staff that goes above and beyond to help our kids as they develop from 6th Grade through their Senior Year.  I understand the advantages of being from a rural school district such as ours, as I also attended K-12 in a similar rural setting in Carrollton, IL.   After graduating from Carrollton High School, I went on to graduate from Blackburn College in 2000 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science Education Grades 6-12, in 2008 from the University of Illinois Springfield with my Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership/Administration earning my Principal Certification, and then in 2018, I graduated from the University of Illinois Springfield again with my Post-Masters Certification in Education Leadership/Administration earning my Superintendent Certification.   The smaller class sizes and more personal attention from our teachers and staff is very beneficial to our students and provides a closeness that only a small school community can provide.  Our outstanding staff guide our students in an extremely safe learning environment that is cultivated for all of our students.  The staff provides an engaging experience for our students in the classroom, and we as a school, and as a district, try to provide a welcoming environment for all who enter.  I look forward to continuing to help facilitate the growth of our students and our programs here at VIT Jr./Sr. High School this year and in the future years.
